You can extend the test duration for a candidate if needed, especially if they lose time due to internet connectivity issues or any other technical issues. HackerRank for Work allows you to add extra time for such events, either during an ongoing test or for a completed test.
Steps to Add Time to a Candidate's Test
Prerequisites
-
Ensure you have the necessary permissions to modify the test settings.
- You are the owner of the test
- You have editor access to a test shared with you
- Confirm the candidate's test status (ongoing or scheduled).
Steps
-
Access the Test:
- Navigate to the Tests tab on your dashboard.
- Select the test you wish to modify.
-
Adding Time:
- Navigate to the Candidates tab
- Click the In Progress or Completed button, as required, from the left-hand pane under Candidate Status
- Select the candidate's name for whom you want to add time
- Navigate to the More dropdown, click on Add additional time in the dropdown
You can change the overall test duration for all candidates by changing the test duration under Settings as described in this article.
Key Points to Remember:
- Once the test begins, the timer counts down continuously and does not pause for any issues.
- A candidate in the test session must refresh the page to see changes on the timer. A candidate who has completed the test must log in to the test once again to see the added time.
- It is not recommended to add time to a test containing DevOps questions if the test has ended or the candidate has submitted it. This is because the machine for DevOps question purges after the test has been submitted. The candidate can be re-invited to take the test and must work on all questions as the new attempt. If time is added to such a test, the candidates will not be able to log in and start the test.
