Overview
As an Interviewer, you may want to automatically lock the new tabs or hide the locked tabs on Interviews so that the tabs are not visible to the Candidates. You can now do this using the Automatic Tab Locking and Hiding feature.
The Auto tab Lock and Hide feature is helpful for these reasons:
- Interviewers may not want Candidates who are not doing well to progress to further tabs. Therefore, the additional tabs on the Interviews should not be visible to the candidate.
- Candidates who have done well in the initial part of the interview might skip over the other questions and jump directly to the final questions. This can send signals that should be kept private until the outcome of the interview is announced.
You can enable this feature on the Interview Settings page of the HackerRank platform.
Enable Automatic Tab Lock and Hide
The Automatic Tab Lock and Hide feature is disabled by default and will be grayed out. You can view this on the Interviews Settings page. This setting applies to all the Interviews.
If you do not want to enable the tab locking, you can select Enable Automatic Lock and click Save.
Conducting Interviews Using Auto Tab Lock and Hide
After you enable the Automatic Tab Lock and Hide feature and open a new Interview page, any new tabs that are added before or during the Interview are locked by default.
If you click Unlock on the tab, the tab will be visible to the Candidate.
Note: If you disable the auto-lock, the tabs on the Interview for the Interviewers will not be locked by default.
Candidate Experience When the Auto Tab Lock and Hide is Enabled
Once the Candidate logs into an interview, the Candidate will see a blank screen if all the tabs are locked on the Interview.
As an Interviewer, you can unlock the tab when you want to start the Interview with the Candidate.
The tab will be visible to the Candidate on the Interview.
When the Interviewer locks a tab to ensure that the Candidate must not make further changes to the answer, the Candidate will not see the tab because the tab is hidden.
Candidate Experience When the Auto Tab Lock and Hide is Disabled
When Enable Auto Tab Lock and Hide is disabled, and the Interviewer locks the tab, the Candidate sees that the tab is locked.
