Overview
HackerRank is a leading technology hiring platform that enables you to hire skilled developers by conducting online assessments. Many companies use the HackerRank platform to conduct their campus hiring programs for selecting the right talent among them to suit your company's business requirements. For candidates, the platform is used to attend the hiring company's assessments and display their coding and technical skills to potential employers.
It is a good practice to familiarize your Candidates with the HackerRank platform before your hiring process begins. Communicate with your candidates about how HackerRank assessments work and what they can expect or how long it may take. These practices reduce any surprises for your candidates and help maintain a positive atmosphere during each step of the hiring process. This article will help you with a few important aspects to consider in making the hiring process a success.
Creating Tests
You can create tests in HackerRank based on a specific role, or you can even choose to customize your tests to suit your company’s hiring requirements. In role-based tests, you can generate Tests by including skill-mapped questions from the HackerRank library for HackerRank-created roles. In customized tests, you can build a Custom Test to include Questions that assess Candidates for a specific job role, experience, and skill level. You can also include Questions from the HackerRank built-in Library or your company library.
Refer to the following articles to understand the Test creation process.
Inviting Candidates
Once you are done creating your tests, you can start inviting your candidates whom you want to take part in this assessment by sending them an email invitation containing the link to Start Test.
Refer to the following articles to learn how to invite candidates.
Note: Ensure that you provide the correct Time and Date in the invitation mail. Incorrect details can cause confusion among candidates.

Your Candidates' experience is a key factor in hiring. Before or as part of inviting your Candidates to take up Tests using HackerRank, you can:
- Recommend the HackerRank Sample Test to your Candidates. Candidates can find the sample test on their login page.
- Suggest that they familiarize themselves with the HackerRank environment and its various capabilities for writing and executing code and solving your challenges.
- Give Browser recommendations for the best experience.
- Ask them to check their network coverage before taking the Test. Provide them with an Internetcompatibility check to check their connectivity.
- If it is a proctored test, ask them to sit in a well-lit area and face straight at the camera.
- Inform them to log in at least a few minutes before the test expiration time so that they have enough time to fill out the confirmation form.
- Show the invigilation methods used by you to monitor these online assessments.
- Provide precise instructions to log in to the Test, and give credentials if necessary.
- Explain how the Candidates will be assessed on these Tests.
Familiarizing your Candidates with your HackerRank hiring platform also gives them the impression of your Company's goal to hire only the best talent, thereby making your Candidates feel excited to attend your Tests and motivated to perform better.
