Overview
HackerRank provides insights into every question, which will help the recruiters to analyze the performance of each question under multiple parameters. Various fields in the insights will help you understand the candidates’ approach and success rate in solving a particular question. Using this analysis you can select suitable questions for your test.
Steps to View Question Insights
Prerequisites
- The question must be used at least once in a test.
Steps
- Navigate to the library and hover your mouse over the required question.
- Click on the Insights option to view the Question Insights page.
There are multiple sections on the insights page which are described below.
Details
This section provides the details related to the question like when it was created, who created the question, the Score of the question, and the recommended time to answer the question.
Stat
This section provides information such as the number of attempts made to answer this question, Median Score, Median Attempt Time, and Median Time to Full Score. You can hover over the info icons to know the definition of these terms.
Median Score: 50% of the candidates who attempted the question scored less than or equal to the number mentioned.
Median Attempt Time: 50% of the candidates who attempted this question took less than or equal to the time mentioned.
Median Time to Full Score: 50% of the candidates who scored 100% answering this question took less than or equal to the time mentioned.
Note: On the right corner of the page you can filter if you want to see the insights for All Tests or custom tests.
Score Distribution
The score distribution graph elaborates the Distribution of the score percentage of candidates who attempted a response to this question.
Usage Over Time
Usage over time graphs explains how many candidates attempted to answer this question per month from its inception to the date.

Candidates by Language
The pie chart under the candidates by language section shows the percentage of candidates to answer this question based on language.
Note: you can use the arrow marks to see the list of languages.
Language Stats
This section shows a statistical table of Candidates by language and the Median Score, Maximum Score Attained, and Median Time Taken.
Note: You can click on each section name in the table to sort the values to start from either higher or lower.
Using these stats and graphs in question insights recruiters can select which question will be suitable for their tests.
