The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU regulation that improves data privacy and gives customers greater control over their personal information and how it is used.
This article answers frequently asked questions about the GDPR.
What is HackerRank's role in GDPR?
HackerRank for Work acts as a Data Processor. It processes personal data on behalf of customers, who act as Data Controllers.
What types of personal data does HackerRank collect?
HackerRank collects personal data directly or through third parties. This data may include cookies, usage data, geographic location, email address, first name, last name, username, password, company name, and so on.
Certain data elements are mandatory for HackerRank to provide its services. If you do not provide this data, HackerRank may not be able to deliver certain features or services. For non-mandatory data elements, you can choose not to provide the requested information. Not providing optional data does not affect the availability or functionality of the service.
Where can I find HackerRank’s privacy policy?
HackerRank provides a detailed privacy policy that explains how it collects, uses, and shares data. Refer to the Privacy Policy for more information.
How do I delete data for a specific candidate?
You must have Company Admin access to delete a candidate and all associated data.
To delete a candidate and all associated data:
Log in to your HackerRank for Work account using your credentials.
Click Search Candidates from the top navigation bar.
Search by candidate name or email.

Select the candidate from the search results.
Click the Delete icon.

In the Delete Candidate confirmation dialog, click Delete.
A success message appears.
How can I delete candidate data in bulk?
To delete data for multiple candidates:
Contact HackerRank Support at support@hackerrank.com, or
Contact your Account Manager
After HackerRank receives your request and candidate list, the system anonymizes the data within 14 days. You receive a notification after completion.
Can I restore deleted candidate data?
No. You cannot restore deleted candidate data.
How do I download candidate data?
You can download candidate data from tests and interviews.

Does HackerRank share candidate data with third parties?
HackerRank does not share customer data except:
As defined in the contract with the customer, or
As required by law

Does HackerRank maintain audit logs?
Yes. HackerRank maintains an audit trail of all user events.

Can candidates edit or delete their personal data or test attempts?
No. HackerRank is a recruiting platform and does not control the tests that companies or recruiters create.
Candidates must contact the company that administered the test to request updates or deletion of their personal data or test attempts.
Can a candidate download their test data?
No. Candidates cannot download their test data directly from HackerRank. Candidates can contact the company that administered the test to request their test data.
