What happens to Candidate statuses if the cutoff score is altered?
Last updated: June 5, 2025
If the cutoff score is changed after the test report is processed, the ATS state of a candidate's test attempt will not change. The change in cutoff score will come into effect only for tests attempted after the change is made.
For example, let's say that the current cutoff score is 50. Candidate A has scored 60 on the test and has been marked as "Qualified". If you change the cutoff score now to 70, then this will not affect the status of candidate A. Candidate A will still be marked as "Qualified". However, if candidate B now attempts the test and gets a score of 60, they will be marked as "Failed".
You can set the cut-off score for a Test under the Test Score Settings page. Refer to the 📄 Modifying Score Settings for Teststopic for more information.
In the Candidates tab of a Test, you can use the options in the left pane to filter and view the Qualified and Failed candidates list separately.Â
Example: Consider a Test with a cut-off score of 75 points. The Candidates tab lists all the Test candidates and their statuses. Once the candidates submit their Test, they are automatically marked as Passed or Failed based on the specified cut-off score of 75 points.

To view a list of Qualified Candidates:
In the left pane, under the Candidate Status category, select Completed and the Passed option.

To view a list of Failed Candidates:
In the left pane, under the Candidate Status category, select Completed and the Failed option.
