Overview
Engage streamlines the process of creating events by creating assets such as microsites, email campaigns, and challenges tailored to your requirements.
The following sections guide you on how to create events using AI and customize the event based on your preferences.
AI-assisted Event Generation
As a new user, you will start with onboarding screens that will showcase how Engage can benefit you.
After you have gone through the onboarding screens, click Create Event. If you do not want to proceed with creating an event right away, you can click Skip for now.
With HackerRank Engage, we have moved away from the conventional approach of filling out lengthy forms to generate a generic asset for your event. Instead, you only need to specify five essential data points or prompts: the Event's goal, theme, target audience, participation type, and brand tone.
Engage, powered by AI, creates a microsite, an email campaign, and a challenge that aligns with your requirements. You can edit these to match your needs.
To create an event:
- On the Event onboard page, click Create Event.
- Theme: For the event theme, mention if you have a specific theme. For example, Sustainability, else, just mention that you do not have one. Click Next.
- Audience: For the target audience, mention the candidates that you are planning to focus on with your event. Try to mention their experience level, their location, or any other factors that will help you accurately explain your target group.
For example, Developers with 0-3 years of experience based out of India.
- Click Next.
- Goal: Next, the event goal is the end goal you are trying to achieve with your event. There can be more than one goal with your event; mention your primary goal here. It may be either hiring, branding, or engagement. Click Next.
- Participation type: Once you have selected the goal, select a participation type that suits your event. For example, a hiring event typically involves individuals, whereas hackathons have teams participating. Click Next.
- Brand tone: Lastly, mention the tone of the content that you prefer. It is ideal to match this with your brand tone so that the content of the microsite and email campaigns replicate your brand voice.
- Click Generate Event.
An event with assets such as a microsite, email campaigns, and challenges is generated based on the inputs you have provided.
Finally, if you want to make some changes to these inputs, go back to the setup page and complete the edits to re-generate the content as per your needs.
Review the Tasks and Tips on the Event Homepage
After configuring your Event, the Engage product guides you through subsequent steps on the Event Homepage. This interface features user-friendly task cards guiding you through the necessary actions in a structured order.
In addition, at every stage of the Event, you will get to see ‘Tips’ beneath the task cards, offering valuable recommendations for implementing best practices to ensure the success of your Event.
Review Event Settings
The first thing you need to do is to Review the event settings after the event has been created. This is to ensure that you set up the event to highlight the right start and end dates, registration end dates, participation type, and the style of the Event - hackathon or a hiring challenge.
- Click Review Setting Settings on the homepage.
- Select the event time, date, time zone, and registration end date.
- Specify the Event modes:
-
- Use the Challenge mode when you want to conduct a hiring challenge with set login windows and test duration for all candidates. Every candidate will get the test duration as long as they login within the login window.
- Use the Hackathon mode when there are no restrictions on login windows and test duration. Here, the hackathon is spread across multiple days, with candidates having the freedom to log in and log out anytime between the start and end times of the event.
- Specify the Participation Type:
-
- Individual: Use Individual as the participation type when you are running a hiring challenge on Engage. This ensures that you are identifying and selecting the candidates based on their individual capability to solve the challenge at hand.
- Team: Use Team as the participation type when you are planning to run events for branding or internal employee engagement where the evaluation of individual candidate capability is not a significant criteria but instead, you want to create an experience to bring people together to solve a complex challenge.
- Specify the Sourcing:
-
- Edit the microsite link as per your preference and use it on various social channels to build the candidate pool for your event.
- Additionally, you can publish the link in our developer community and use it as one of the channels to build your candidate pool.
- Make any other edits as per your requirement and save the changes to proceed with editing the different parts of your event.
