HackerRank for Work's Time Accommodation feature allows you to add extra time for candidates attempting a test. This addresses issues such as network outages, question errors, and supports candidates with special needs, including those with visual impairments and disabilities, ensuring they have the time needed to complete the test.
Note: Extra time can be added while inviting or reinviting candidates, and not during an ongoing test. To adjust the duration during a test, you must change the overall test duration as detailed here.
Steps to Add Extra Time to Test Attempts
Prerequisites
- You must have access (create, edit, publish) to the test for which you want to add time.
Steps
-
Click the Tests tab on the home page, then select Invite. For best practices on test invitations, click here.
- There are two ways to add extra time:
-
From the invitation window: The Invite option takes you to the Send Test Invites page. The Time Accommodation button is located at the top right of the email editor. It allows you to increase the test duration by a specified percentage: 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, or a custom percentage for candidates with special needs. The modified duration will be reflected in the invite template.
-
Note: Custom percentage add-ons need to be in multiples of five.
- From the candidate list: Visit the candidates tab and select the desired candidate. Find More on the top menu and select Add Time from the dropdown and add time(in minutes). This functionality is specifically useful while conducting campus activities.
Using this feature, you can easily modify a candidate's total time to solve a test. If you want to modify the time for multiple candidates and send the test invite, you can do so by bulk-uploading candidates. Learn more about the same here.
